Permission required: Voice Parts & Functions – Manage voice parts & functions
What is this?
Under Voices & roles you define which voice parts exist in your choir. Voice parts determine the groups in events, sheet music and attendance. Each member has at most one voice part.
How to manage voice parts
- Click Ensembles in the sidebar, pick your choir and then Choir settings.
- Select Voices & roles. The Voice Parts list is there.
- Click Add Voice Part, enter the Voice Part Name and Abbreviation (at most 3 characters) and confirm with Add Voice Part.
- Use the menu on a voice part to choose Rename, Move up, Move down or Delete.
The order applies everywhere voice parts are listed, for example when sorting the member list by voice part.
What you set per voice part
- Voice Part Name (e.g. “Soprano 1”)
- Abbreviation (e.g. “S1”), at most 3 characters
- Order via Move up / Move down
Where voice parts are used
- Member profile: each member's voice part
- Member list: column, filter and sorting by voice part
- Events: events can be limited to specific voice parts
- Import: Voice part column in the member import
Permission
You need the permission Manage voice parts & functions.
Tips
- Delete voice parts you don't use. That keeps selection lists short.
- Settle the names before the import, because the import matches voice parts by name.
Frequently asked questions
Which voice parts exist by default?▾
A new choir starts with Soprano, Soprano 1, Soprano 2, Alto, Alto 1, Alto 2, Tenor, Tenor 1, Tenor 2, Bass, Bass 1 and Bass 2. You can rename, reorder, delete and add to them.
Can I create subgroups such as “Soprano 1” and “Soprano 2”?▾
Yes. Each voice part is its own entry with a name and abbreviation, for example Mezzo-soprano (MS) or Baritone (Bar).
What happens if I delete a voice part that members are still assigned to?▾
That is not possible. The confirmation dialog already points this out. If you try anyway, Theatilo tells you that members still have this voice part. Assign the members to another voice part first.
