Archive notification
Take a finished notification out of the current list for everyone. It is kept in full and can be restored at any time from the archive.
This feature is only available on the web.
What is this?
Archive notification lets you tidy up your choir's notification list without losing anything. The notification disappears from the list of current notifications for everyone and moves to the archive, where you can restore it at any time.
Unlike deleting, the notification is kept in full, including comments, reactions, poll and attachments.
How to archive a notification
- Open the notification from the notifications overview.
- Click ··· at the top right. Each notification in the list also has a ··· menu.
- Choose "Archive".
- The notification disappears from the list right away. A message with "Undo" appears at the bottom.
- Restore it if needed: open "Archive" at the top and choose ··· › "Restore" on the notification.
The app doesn't offer archiving.
When archiving makes sense
Typical situations:
- The event has taken place: the rehearsal or performance info is no longer needed
- The poll is over: the result is clear, and the notification no longer needs to be in the overview
- The discussion is finished: comments have been read and questions answered
- Tidying up the overview: there are many old notifications and everyone should only see current ones
What other members see
The notification no longer appears in the list of current notifications for anyone. Members without the Delete notifications permission can't see the archive. An archived notification carries the label "Archived" and can't be edited until it is restored.
Permission
You need the Delete notifications permission to archive and restore notifications. By default the Administrator and Moderator permission groups have it.
Tips
- Archive instead of deleting. The overview stays tidy and no information is lost.
- After every event or performance you can archive the related notification, so only current topics stay in view.
- Search the archive when you need old information; the search field there searches the archived notifications.
- For important notifications with attachments, archive rather than delete. The attachments then stay available.
