What is this?

A poll in a notification is a quick vote the choir director or the board can use to ask for your opinion. Typical examples: When should the extra rehearsal take place? Which piece should we learn as an encore? Which logo do you like best?

There are two kinds: polls with Answers and polls with Date options. You see the poll directly in the notification with all its options and a note on whether you've already voted.

How to vote

  1. Open the notification with the poll from the notifications overview. You can also click "Vote" directly in the list.
  2. Scroll to the poll below the notification text.
  3. Choose your option(s):
    • With single choice you pick one option.
    • With multiple choice you can pick several options.
    • With date options you choose "Yes" or "Maybe" for each date. If there is a "None of these dates" option, you can choose that too.
  4. Click "Vote". Your vote is saved.
  5. Change your vote with "Edit vote" and "Save changes" while the edit window is open.

What you see in the poll

The poll shows all the relevant information at a glance:

  • The question and options set by the author
  • Votes per option after you've voted; for date options split into Yes and Maybe
  • Total number of votes and how many members have already voted
  • Your vote: which option you chose
  • Voting deadline, if one is set
  • Names of the voters per option via "Show voters", with their vote

Permission

You need the View notifications permission to take part in polls. All members have it by default. If you can see the notification with the poll, you may also vote.

Tips

  • Vote early so the author can plan better.
  • Use multiple choice in date polls: mark every date you could make, not just one.
  • Write a comment if none of the options work for you, so the author can add another one.
  • Remember that everyone sees who voted how, so use polls deliberately for sensitive questions.

Who hasn't voted yet?

If you may edit notifications or wrote the notification yourself, Theatilo shows "Show who hasn't voted" below the total number of votes. Clicking it expands the names of all members who haven't voted yet, with their voice part. "Remind non-voters" sends them a reminder. Nobody else sees these buttons.

If the notification is only visible to part of the choir, such as a certain permission group, function or chat group, only the people who can see the poll count toward participation and this list. If it says "3 of 6", then 6 people are invited to vote, not the whole choir.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change my vote afterwards?▾
Yes, with "Edit vote", as long as the edit window set by the author is still open. It starts with your first vote and can range from 30 minutes to "Always editable". How long you can still change it is shown below the poll.
Can other members see what I voted for?▾
Yes. Below each option, "Show voters" reveals the names. There are no anonymous polls.
How do I see the current result?▾
After you vote, Theatilo shows the votes per option. If you want to see the result beforehand, click "Show results".
What happens when the poll ends?▾
If the author set a voting deadline, no more votes are possible after it. The result stays visible to everyone. For date options, an event can be created from the result.
