Comment on a notification
Write a comment under a notification, ask questions or mention others with @. The author and everyone following the notification are notified.
What is this?
With a comment you join the discussion about a notification. Comments are ideal for asking questions, adding suggestions or replying to other members' posts, all directly below the notification so the whole discussion stays in one place.
Typical reasons to comment:
- A question about rehearsal info, for example about the time or the sheet music
- Agreement or additions to a notification
- A suggestion to add to a poll
- A reply to another comment
- Extra info from the author without editing the whole notification
How to write a comment
- Open the notification from the notifications overview.
- Scroll down to the comments section.
- Tap or click the input field "Add comment" (app: "Write a comment...").
- Write your comment, short and to the point. Use @ to mention individual members and @all for everyone.
- Send the comment with "Submit comment" or Ctrl/⌘ + Enter (app: send icon). It appears below the notification right away.
Who is notified?
When you send your comment, Theatilo notifies by email and push:
- Everyone following the notification: the author follows automatically, others turn on "Follow by email" above the comment list (app: "Subscribe")
- Everyone you mention with @, and with @all all members
People who have only read the notification and don't follow it get no notification, which keeps the noise down.
Permission
You need the View notifications permission to comment on notifications. All members have it by default. If you can see a notification and comments are allowed, you can also comment on it.
Tips
- Keep your comment short. Long texts belong in a chat or a separate notification.
- Say thanks with a reaction instead of a "Thanks!" comment. That keeps the discussion easy to follow.
- Don't include sensitive information in comments; everyone who receives the notification can see them.
- Check your comment before sending. You can't edit it later, and the notifications will already have gone out.
When comments are turned off
The author of a notification can turn off comments, for example for pure information that needs no response. You then see no input field below the notification, only a note that comments are turned off for this notification. If you still have a question, message the choir leadership directly in a chat.
