Edit notification
Correct or extend a notification you already published: fix typos, add new info, or add a poll or extra attachments afterwards.
What is this?
With Edit notification you can adjust a notification after it has been published: fix typos, add new information or provide a forgotten attachment. The edited version replaces the original and is visible to all members right away.
Typical reasons to edit:
- Fixing a typo or unclear wording
- Adding new information without sending a second notification
- Adding a forgotten attachment
- Changing the meeting point or time in the text
- Adding or clarifying a poll
- Changing the visibility or Allow comments
How to edit a notification
- Open the notification from the notifications overview.
- Click "Edit" at the top right. In the list, "Edit" is also in the notification's ··· menu. In the app, tap ··· at the top of the notification and then "Edit notification".
- Change the title, text, attachments, poll or visibility as needed. The choirs can't be changed after publishing.
- Tick "Send notification to all members" if needed.
- Click "Save changes". The notification is updated right away.
Archived notifications can't be edited. Restore them first.
If you want to inform members
If the change is important and everyone should be actively told, you have three options:
- Tick the notification option when saving. Everyone who may see the notification gets a push notification and an email again.
- Write a comment under the notification pointing out the change. That notifies everyone following the notification.
- Write a new notification with the updated content. This makes sense for short-notice date changes.
Permission
You need the Create & edit notifications permission to edit notifications. By default the Administrator and Moderator permission groups have it. Shared notifications sent to several choirs can only be edited on the web.
Tips
- Fix typos promptly. The longer the notification is up, the fewer members see the corrected version right away.
- Flag important changes at the start of the text with a short note like "Update May 5: rehearsal now starts at 7:30 pm".
- Leave the original information in place if you are only adding to it, so members can see what changed.
- For critical date changes (cancellation, room change shortly before rehearsal), tick the notification option or write a new notification.
