Permission required: Sheet Music – Create & edit sheet music

What is this?

With tags you mark pieces with keywords that help you find them quickly — such as style, language, difficulty, concert programme or status.

Examples:

  • Style: "Pop", "Classical", "Jazz", "Sacred", "Folk song"
  • Language: "English", "German", "Latin"
  • Difficulty: "Easy", "Medium", "Hard"
  • Form: "A cappella", "With piano"
  • Occasion: "Wedding", "Christmas", "Summer party"

How to assign tags to a piece

  1. Open the piece in the library and click Edit.
  2. Type into the Tags field. Matching existing tags appear as suggestions.
  3. Choose a suggestion or create a new tag: type the term and confirm with Enter or comma, or choose "… create new".
  4. Click Save. The tags are then visible to all members.

You can also assign tags already during upload, once a choir is chosen. For purchased sheet music from the music shop, the tags are the only thing you can change.

Deleting a tag

  1. Open a piece to Edit and click into the Tags field.
  2. In the suggestion list, click the trash icon next to the tag.
  3. Confirm the prompt. The tag is removed from all the sheet music where it is used.

Permission

To assign and delete tags you need Create & edit sheet music. All other members can filter by tags.

Tips

  • Define a tag scheme before you start — for example "always one style, one language, one difficulty".
  • Use consistent spelling, otherwise duplicate tags emerge like "english" and "English".
  • Avoid too many tags per piece — 3 to 7 is ideal.
  • Tidy up the tag list regularly and delete redundant tags.

Frequently asked questions

How many tags can a piece have?▾
As many as you want. In practice 3 to 7 tags per piece work well — more become unwieldy. A piece could have "Pop", "English", "Medium", "Advent concert" and "A cappella", for example.
Do tags apply to the whole choir?▾
Yes. Tags belong to a choir. All members see the same tags and can filter by them.
Can I rename or delete tags?▾
Deleting, yes: in the tag field's suggestion list there is a trash icon next to each tag. The tag then disappears from all the choir's sheet music. Renaming is not possible — instead assign the new tag and delete the old one.
