Permission required: Sheet Music – Create & edit sheet music

What is this?

With Audio files you attach one or more listening examples to a piece. Members can then listen to the piece at home, on the go or before rehearsal, and read along with the score.

Typical audio files:

  • Recording of the work (studio, live or a known recording)
  • Piano playback with all voices
  • Rehearsal recording from the last rehearsal weekend
  • Per-voice recordings (soprano only, alto only, …) for practicing

How to add an audio file

  1. Open the piece in the library and click Edit.
  2. Scroll to the Audio files area.
  3. Drag the files into the Add audio files field or click it and select them. Multiple files at once also work.
  4. Check the titles — they come from the file name, for example "Piano playback". Optionally add a description.
  5. Click Upload file (with several files e.g. "Upload 3 files"). The files are then available to all members.

When uploading a new piece, you can attach audio files directly in the same form.

Recording right in the app

On the computer you upload a finished file — in the app the opposite way works too. Anyone allowed to edit sheet music taps "Audio" in the dock of the open sheet music PDF, then "Record audio", and records directly: a rehearsal recording, a piano example or their own voice. You listen to the recording first, give it a title and then save it for everyone. All steps are described under "Record right in the sheet music".

Changing the title later

If you gave a file an unhelpful name, you do not need to re-upload it. Under Edit, in the Audio files area, choose Rename from the entry's ··· menu. Title and description can be changed there — the recording itself stays unchanged. In the same menu you find Download and Delete.

Your own recordings for purchased sheet music

You can also attach your choir's own recordings to sheet music from the music shop, for example a rehearsal recording or practice recordings for individual voices. Open the piece and use Add audio files in the Audio files area of the detail page. Recordings supplied by the publisher carry the Publisher badge. You can listen to them, but not rename or delete them. Your own recordings are edited and deleted as usual, and are only visible to your choir.

What members can do with the audio

  • Listen in the browser — on the piece's detail page
  • Listen in the app, while reading along with the score — with speed from 0.5x to 2x, repeat, 10 seconds forward and back
  • Add to playlist (app)
  • Download or share it, if they have the Download & share sheet music permission

Listening requires an internet connection.

Permission

To add you need Create & edit sheet music. Any member with View sheet music can listen.

Tips

  • Trim recordings beforehand if only an excerpt is to be practiced — that saves data volume.
  • Give clear titles — with multiple recordings, "Piano soprano only" is clearer than "audio_3.mp3".
  • Mind the rights: do not upload commercial recordings you have no rights to.

Frequently asked questions

Which audio formats are supported?▾
Common audio formats such as MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG, AAC or FLAC, up to 100 MB per file. MP3 is usually the best choice — good quality at a small file size.
Can I add multiple audio files to a piece?▾
Yes. You could keep a professional recording, a piano playback and a rehearsal recording side by side. Members then choose themselves what they listen to.
Can every member add their own recordings?▾
No, only members with the Create & edit sheet music permission. Personal practice recordings can be shared via posts or chats without attaching them to the piece.
