Delete a message in a chat. It disappears for all participants and is replaced by the note "This message was deleted".

What is this?
With Delete message you remove a message from the chat history. The message disappears for all participants and is replaced by the placeholder "This message was deleted". Its attachments are no longer visible either.
How to delete a message
- Open the chat with the message you want to delete.
- Web: click ··· next to the message (or right-click the message) and choose Delete.
- App: press and hold the message and tap Delete.
- Confirm the prompt "Delete message?".
Permission
You need the View chats permission and must be a participant of the chat. You can always delete your own messages. You can only delete other people's messages as an admin of a group chat.
Tips
- Delete sparingly. A "message deleted" note often draws more attention than the original message.
- For typos, edit rather than delete. That works within the first 15 minutes.
- For inappropriate content from others, use the report feature. The report goes to the Theatilo team.

Do others see that I deleted a message?▾
Yes. In place of the message, the note "This message was deleted" appears. The content is no longer visible, but it stays clear that something was deleted.
Can I delete other members' messages too?▾
Only as an admin of a group chat; then you can delete any message there. Otherwise you can only delete your own messages. For inappropriate content, use "Report chat".
Can a deleted message be restored?▾
No. Deleting is permanent. If you are unsure and the message is only a few minutes old, edit it instead.
