Manage group chat participants
Add members to a group chat, remove participants, set access rules by voice part or function, or view the full participant list.
What is this?
In the group settings you control who is part of a group chat. You can add members of the choir, remove participants and see the complete list of all participants, including who manages the group.
With the access rules you can also select voice parts and ensemble functions: members with these voice parts or functions get access automatically. They are marked "Automatic via rule" in the list and can't be removed individually; change the rule instead.
How to add participants
- Open the group chat.
- Click ··· at the top right and choose Group settings. In the app you can also tap the group name.
- Below the participant list, click "Add participants" (app: "Add").
- Search for the member by name and select them. They are added immediately.
How to remove participants
- Open the group settings as described above.
- Click ··· next to the member.
- Choose "Remove from chat" (app: "Remove Participant").
- Confirm the prompt. The member is removed from the group immediately.
Change access rules
In the group settings, click Voice Parts or Ensemble Functions (app: Access rules › Edit), select the entries you want and save.
Permission
You have to be an admin of the group chat to manage participants and access rules. Regular participants can only view the list.
Tips
- Keep the participant list up to date, especially when members leave the ensemble or new section leaders join.
- For voice section chats, an access rule based on the voice part pays off. Then you don't have to maintain the list by hand.
- Making several people admin takes work off your shoulders and gives you a stand-in when you can't be reached.
- Before removing someone, have a quick word with them. That's friendlier than removing them without a word.
