Mark a chat you have already read as unread again, so you remember to reply later and the open answer does not slip your mind.

What is this?
Mark as unread is your personal reminder: you've read a message but can't reply right now. Instead of forgetting it, you set the chat back to unread. It then shows a counter in your overview again and reminds you until you've actually replied.
How to mark a chat as unread
On the web:
- Go to Messages › Chats
- Click ··· on the chat in the list
- Choose Mark as unread
In the app:
- Press and hold the chat in the chat overview
- Choose Mark as unread
The chat then shows a counter again, and the number on Messages goes up accordingly.
Permission
You need the View chats permission. All members have it by default.
Tips
- Use the marker for messages that need a real reply. It isn't worth it for pure information.
- The chat you currently have open doesn't offer this action, because it counts as read again when you leave it anyway. Open another chat first or go back to the overview. Chats that are already unread or have no messages yet don't offer it either.
- Combine it with muting: mute noisy group chats, but keep that one open question flagged as unread.
Frequently asked questions
Does the other person see that I marked the chat as unread?▾
No. The marker only applies to you. Nothing changes for anyone else.
What happens when I open the chat again?▾
Opening the chat automatically marks it as read again. If you want to flag it again, simply mark it as unread once more.
Do I get a new push notification because of it?▾
No. The marker only affects your chat overview and the number on Messages.
