Permission required: Chat – Create direct chats

What is this?

With the person search you start a new 1:1 chat with a member of your choirs. Find the member by name and the chat opens right away. If a chat already exists, the existing history opens, so you never end up with duplicate chats.

How to find a member

  1. Open Messages › Chats in the sidebar, or in the app under Messages › Chat.
  2. Click "New Chat" (web) or the "Chat" button at the bottom right (app).
  3. Leave "1-to-1 Chat" selected.
  4. Type at least two letters of the name. Matching members are suggested.
  5. Tap the member you want. The chat opens right away and you can write the first message.

Permission

You need the Create direct chats permission to start a new chat. All members have it by default. It can be restricted for individual groups via the permission groups.

Tips

  • You can spot existing chats in the overview. If the name is already there, you don't need to search; just open the existing chat.
  • For group communication, a group chat is often more practical than several separate 1:1 chats, for example for the section leaders or a working group.
