Choir leadership: link parents and children
Link a child with a parent from the choir directly from the member list. Active immediately, no confirmation needed. Requirements, notes and tips.
This feature is only available on the web.
What is this?
As choir leadership, you link children and parents directly from the member list, without either side having to confirm. This is the way for children without their own login like Jonas (9), and the quickest solution if you have just added both anyway.
Requirement
First switch on "Parent link" under Choir settings › General. Only then do the field "Guardian" appear when adding a member and the action "Link guardian" in the member list.
The parent must be a member of the choir. So invite them first, separately from the child, like any other member:
- Ensembles › your choir › Members › "Add Member", enter Petra's details.
- Tick "Do not automatically add to events" if Petra does not sing. New events then do not add her as pending. She still sees notifications and events like any member.
- Choose a permission group, see the tip below.
A link never grants access to a choir. Someone who is not a member cannot be linked.
How to link
- Open the member list (Ensembles › your choir › Members) and go to the child's row, for example Jonas.
- In the row's "···" menu, choose "Link guardian".
- Under "Guardian", choose the parent from the choir's members, for example Petra Müller.
- Click "Link guardian". The link is active immediately.
Child and parent get a notification. From now on the child's row shows "Guardians: Petra Müller". There is no icon and no filter, only this note.
When adding a new child, you can also set the link straight away under "Add Member" in the field "Guardian".
Removing
The choir leadership cannot remove links. Only the parent can, in their own profile. If a parent should no longer respond for a child, you have the usual way: remove the parent from the choir. The link remains, but no longer applies in your choir.
What parents can see and do afterwards
- confirm and decline as well as vote for the child
- all events and notifications the child sees, even if they are limited to the child's voice part, role or permission group
- in the attendance history, the parent's responses show "Changed by: Petra Müller · via parent link"
Chats, files, sheet music and the child's personal data are not affected. Only the parent's own permissions apply there.
Tips
- A separate permission group for parents without sheet music access. That way parents do not use license seats for purchased sheet music and only see what they need.
- Both parents may be linked. Both respond; the last change counts.
- Limit: at most 6 guardians per child and 6 children per parent.
- Parental consent for the community is something else: it only controls whether an underage member may use the community, and has nothing to do with this link.
