What is this?

A parent link is created when one side starts it and the other side confirms it. Either side can start it:

  • The child enters the parent's email address in their profile.
  • The parent enters the child's email address in their profile.

So Lina (12, own login) can enter Petra, or Petra enters Lina. The result is the same.

On the web

  1. Open the settings via your profile picture at the top right and choose "Parents and children".
  2. Under "People I manage", click "Request a link".
  3. Under "This person is", choose "my parent" or "my child".
  4. Enter the person's email address and click "Send request".

In the app

  1. Tap your avatar at the top right and choose "Parent link".
  2. Under "New link", enter the email address, choose "my parent" or "my child" and tap "Request link".

The other side confirms via the link in the email or in their profile. Only then is the link active. Until then it is listed with you under "Open requests".

"Request a link" only appears if the choir leadership of a shared choir has enabled the parent link.

Requirement: a shared choir

The address you enter must belong to a member who is already in a choir with you. This protects you both: nobody can try out other people's addresses, and nobody gets into a choir through a link.

If your parent is not in the choir yet, ask the choir leadership to invite them. Ideally with the checkbox "Do not automatically add to events" if they do not sing.

If it does not work

  • "This address does not belong to a member of your choirs.": check the spelling, or the person is not in a shared choir yet.
  • "This link already exists or is waiting for confirmation.": there is already an active link or an open request between you.
  • "The limit of links has been reached.": at most 6 children per parent and 6 guardians per child.
  • "Someone who is managed cannot manage anyone, and vice versa.": someone linked as a child cannot be a parent. Chains are not possible.
  • "The parent link is not enabled in any of your shared choirs.": the choir leadership first has to switch it on in the choir settings.
  • Request expired: after 14 days without confirmation the request expires. Simply start it again.

Good to know

  • After too many attempts, Theatilo blocks requests for one hour.
  • For children without their own login, like Jonas (9), the choir leadership links from the member list. No confirmation is needed there.
  • The link applies automatically in all choirs where you are both members, including ones added later.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Theatilo say the address does not belong to a member of my choirs?▾
You can only link with people who are already in a choir with you. Check the spelling of the address. If your parent is not in the choir at all yet, the choir leadership has to invite them first.
How long is my request valid?▾
14 days. After that it expires, and you can simply start it again.
Can I start a link for Jonas, who has no login of his own?▾
No, because Jonas could not confirm it. The choir leadership links children without their own login from the member list, with no confirmation needed.
I am a linked child myself. Can I manage children?▾
No. Someone who is managed cannot manage anyone. Theatilo rejects such chains.
