Create your first choir

Create your choir with a name, billing address and timezone. Then the setup wizard walks you through bank details, voice parts, ensemble functions and chart of accounts.

What is this?

With Add ensemble you start a new choir on Theatilo. After creating it, the setup walks you through the most important basic settings — afterwards you can invite members, plan events and manage sheet music.

If you signed up with "Register with choir", your first choir is already created and the setup starts on your first login.

How to create a choir

  1. Click "Ensembles" in the sidebar, then "Add ensemble" in the panel. You can also find this entry in the choir switcher at the top of the header.
  2. Under "Basic details", enter the name, choose the type and a color.
  3. Enter the billing address (street, postal code, city, country) and choose the timezone.
  4. Optional: description and logo (max. 2 MB).
  5. Click "Create Ensemble".

The setup

Right after that, the setup opens with five steps. Only the first is required — you can skip the others with "Skip":

  1. Basic settings — name, color, timezone, watermark for sheet music, projects and event reminders
  2. Bank details — IBAN, BIC and creditor ID of the choir
  3. Voice parts
  4. Ensemble functions
  5. Chart of accounts for the cash book

With "Complete Setup" you are done.

What happens after creation

  • You are the administrator of the choir and have full rights.
  • The choir gets default voices (soprano, alto, tenor, bass, each also split), which you can adjust.
  • The trial period runs (see FAQ).
  • You reach the new choir via the choir switcher and the "Ensembles" panel.

Permission

No special permission needed — every signed-in Theatilo user can create a choir.

Tips

  • Create the choir under its real name — it appears in invitations and on the choir's public website.
  • Invite a few members right away so you can test the features in real operation.

Frequently asked questions

Does creating a choir cost anything?▾
Your first choir is free for 60 days with no payment details, and every feature is unlocked. The trial exists once per person: if you create more choirs later, the remaining time from your first choir applies. After that the choir needs a subscription.
Can I change the choir name or logo later?▾
Yes, at any time under Ensembles > your choir > Choir settings > General. Voices and all other settings can also be adjusted later.
What role do I have in the new choir?▾
You automatically become administrator with full rights. You can set up additional administrators or editors later via the permission groups.
Can I create a choir in the app?▾
No, you create a choir on the web.
