Mark all as read

What is this?

When your bell shows double-digit numbers and you don't want to click every single entry, "Mark all as read" is the quick bulk action. One click, and all open bell notifications are set to "read" and the number drops to zero.

How to mark all as read

1. Click the bell at the top right of the header (in the app: the bell in the header).
2. Click "Mark all as read" at the top of the window. The link only appears when there are unread entries.
3. The number disappears; all bell notifications are now marked as read. There is no confirmation prompt.

What happens

• The number on the bell drops to zero
• Content stays unchanged; nothing is deleted
• The list keeps its order; old and new entries stay visible
• Notifications and chats stay unread; their counters under Messages don't change

Permission

Available to every logged-in user; no special permission is needed.

Tips

• Use it deliberately. If you use it all the time without really reading, it doesn't replace keeping track of content. Better to reduce your notification settings so fewer come in.
• Handy after a holiday: if you were away for a week and the bell shows 80 unread, "Mark all as read" plus a targeted look in the individual areas makes sense.
• If you don't want to miss anything important, scroll through the bell first. Bulk marking can also push important things out of sight.
