Global search (across everything)
Press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows) to quickly search sheet music, events, notifications, members, transactions and choirs from one field.
This feature is only available on the web.
What is this?
The global search is the fastest way to find something in Theatilo. With one keystroke, Cmd+K on Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows/Linux, a search window opens that searches several areas at once: sheet music, events, notifications, members, cashbook, choirs and the sheet music shop.
Instead of clicking through the navigation, you just type your search term and jump straight to the result.
How to use the global search
- Press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows/Linux). The search window opens anywhere in Theatilo.
- Alternatively, click the "Search" field at the top left of the header (on a phone, the magnifying glass).
- Type your search term: a member's name, an event title, a piece's name, a word from a notification.
- Narrow down the category if needed: All, Sheet Music, Events, Notifications, Members, Cashbook, Choirs or Sheet Music Shop.
- The results appear grouped by category.
- Pick a result with the mouse or the arrow keys + Enter, and you land right there. Esc closes the window.
If a choir is selected in the choir filter at the top, Theatilo only searches that choir.
What you can search for
- Sheet music: in your sheet music library
- Events: your events
- Notifications: by title and text
- Members: by name and voice part; people who may see sensitive data can also find members by email, phone or address
- Cashbook: transactions, with the permission to view the cashbook
- Choirs: by name and description
- Sheet music shop: by title, composer, arranger, lyricist and catalog number
Permission
No special permission is needed; every member can use the global search. You only see content your permission group gives you access to.
Tips
- Memorize Cmd+K / Ctrl+K. It saves a lot of clicks in the long run.
- Search with unusual words to get a short, precise list of results.
- Pick a category if the list is too long; you then get more results from that area.
- Type fragments. The search also finds parts of words, so you don't have to type the whole word.
